How to use PRUSA Slicer for a CREALITY 3D Printer

When is comes to the CREALITY slicer software there is much left to be desired. It may seem absurd to suggest that something as simple as changing your slicer software could lead to better prints, but it's true. Since the Prusa software is available for free download, it's a good place before you venture into purchasing a slicer software. The best part about the PRUSA slicer, it's quite good.


Below is a step-by-step to get you up and running using the PRUSA slicer on your CREALITY machine.


 

STEP 1 – DOWNLOAD THE PRUSA SLICER

Go to the PRUSA website by clicking here

Click on SOFTWARE > PRUSASLICER

Download the latest version of PRUSASLICER for your operating system.

Open the PRUSASLICER file executable file and begin the installation process

 

STEP 2 - CUSTOM PRINTER SETUP CONFIGURATION During the installation process the configuration wizard will begin. This is the place to setup your CREALITY 3D Printer. If you already completed the installation process there is no need to reinstall, simply click on CONFIGURATION > CONFIGURATION WIZARD from the menu bar. Click on CUSTOM PRINTER and check the box indicated DEFINE A CUSTOM PRINTER PROFILE Give a name to your printer by typing it in the CUSTOM PROFILE NAME: field

Click NEXT


 

STEP 3 - FIRMWARE CONFIGURATION

Under FIRMWARE TYPE dropdown list select MARLIN. If you are using another type of firmware enter it now.


Click NEXT


 

STEP 4 - BED SHAPE AND SIZE CONFIGURATION

Under BED SHAPE and SIZE set the SHAPE to Rectangular (or other depending on your printer)

Under SETTINGS enter in the correct SIZE for X: and Y: dimensions


For Origin enter the settings of your choice. Both X: and Y: can remain at zero if you don’t have a preference. They can be changed at any time.

For TEXTURE and MODEL it is not necessary to load anything.



Click NEXT


 

STEP 5 - FILAMENT AND NOZZLE DIAMETER CONFIGURATION

Under NOZZLE DIAMETER enter the diameter nozzle in use.

Under FILAMENT DIAMETER enter the filament diameter in use.


Click NEXT


 

STEP 6 - EXTRUDER AND BED TEMPERATURES

Under EXTRUSION TEMPERATURE and BED TEMPERATURE enter the temperature of choice. This can be changed later so don’t get too hung up on what to enter.



Click NEXT

 

STEP 7 - COMPLETE THE CONFIGURATION WIZARD


For the remaining steps of the configuration, make selections that are best tailored to your needs. Once the configuration wizard is complete, PRUSA Slicer can now be used as your main slicing software.
